Abstract Presentation Guidelines

About Abstract Presentations 

Abstract presenters may be offered the opportunity to present live as a face-to-face presentation at the venue or as a virtual pre-recorded presentation. Abstract presenters that have been accepted for a virtual only presentation will have their presentation available on demand in the Virtual Conference Portal. 

All accepted Abstract presenters must submit pre-recorded Oral Presentations, ePoster Presentations and Rapid Fire Presentations by Friday 23 July 2021.   

How will I engage with Delegates and network?

All pre-recorded Abstract presentations including Oral, ePoster and Rapid Fire Presentations will be available on demand on the Conference Virtual Portal in the week prior to the conference to allow all delegates to engage and ask questions via the discussion forum (chat). 

We recommend that presenters make one of the first discussion forum comments (presenter contact information), so that audience members can contact you for more information / to collaborate (if you're open to such contacts). Alternatively (or in addition to this), you can keep an eye on your discussion forum for your session/s. 

Presentations accepted for the below presentation types, will be have their pre-recorded video presentation available on-demand;

  • Oral Presentation* 
  • ePoster Presentation* 
  • Rapid Fire Presentation*
    *Presentations accepted for live / face to face presentation will also present live at the conference.

    Abstract Presentation Checklist

    Please Note:

    Oral Abstract Presentation Guidelines

    Duration 20 minutes (including 3 minutes Q&A time)

    PowerPoint Presentations

    • PowerPoint slide size is widescreen (16:9)  Download the Widescreen Template  
    • Please save your presentation as your FullName_Abstract-ID_Presentation type (e.g. GailSmith_34_Oral.ppt or .pptx) (if you have multiple abstract presentations just name them Oral1, Oral2 etc)
    • Upload via the Abstract Portal a copy of your PowerPoint Presentation (by Friday 23 July 2021) 
    • Upload the recording of your Abstract presentation (maximum 15 minutes)  - detail of how to upload will be in the Abstract Portal and emailed to all accepted Oral Abstract Presenters
    • If you are accepted to present a live face to face Oral Presentation, it is also recommended that you bring your presentation on a USB stick as a backup 
    • Presentations will be loaded onto the Conference computer and you will not be able to use your own laptop while presenting 

    Live Oral Presentation Tips 
    Please ensure that the quantity of slides used is appropriate in relation to the length of your presentation.  The Conference needs to run to time and presenters will be asked to finish at the scheduled time by the Session Chair.  The time allotted for your presentation is 20 minutes (17 minutes presentation + 3 minutes Q&A time).  

    Audio-Visual Equipment 
    The following audio-visual equipment will be available:

    • Lectern & Microphone 
    • Data Projector 
    • Computer

    Live Oral Presentation
    Please be in your allocated session room 10 minutes prior to the proceeding break (eg Morning Tea) to meet the Session Chair and to ensure that your presentation is correctly loaded.  

    The Session Chair will time your presentation and provide you with a 'warning' at 2 minutes remaining, 1 minute remaining and also when time is up.  The Session Chair will guide the Q&A portion of your presentation.

    Virtual Oral Presentation (All Oral Abstract Presenters)
    We recommend that presenters make one of the first discussion forum comments (presenter contact information), so that audience members can contact you for more information / to collaborate (if you're open to such contacts). Alternatively (or in addition to this), you can keep an eye on your discussion forum for your session/s.  

    ePoster Presentation Guidelines

    Duration 5 minutes 

    ePoster Template - PowerPoint Presentation

    • PowerPoint slide size for ePoster Presentation is widescreen (16:9).  Download the Widescreen Template  
    • Please save your ePoster as a PDF
    • Please save your presentation as your FullName_Abstract-ID_Presentation type (e.g. GailSmith_34_ePoster.pdf) 
    • Upload via the Abstract Portal a copy of your ePoster (by Friday 23 July 2021) 
    • Upload the recording of your Abstract Presentation (by Friday 23 July 2021) - detail of how to upload will be in the Abstract Portal and emailed to all accepted Poster Abstract presenters
    • It has not yet been decided if Live in Person ePoster Presentations will be offered at the Conference.  This will be confirmed with ePoster Abstract acceptance.

    Presentation Tips 
    Presenters are recommended to have their contact details on the ePoster so interested Delegates can contact them for additional information.  

    ePosters Virtual Presentations
    ePosters will be available on demand on the Virtual Conference Portal one week prior to the Conference.

    Rapid Fire Oral Presentation Guidelines

    Duration 2 minutes

    Rapid Fire Oral Presentation
    Presenters have 120 seconds (2 minutes) to present an “elevator pitch” (a succinct and persuasive sales pitch) to Delegates outlining the outcomes of innovative practice, research, education or management that they are working on. This presentation must be presented on a single PowerPoint slide (Poster) 16:9 format.

    Rapid Fire Poster

    • Upload via the Abstract Portal a copy of your Rapid Fire Poster (by Friday 23 July 2021) 
    • Rapid Fire Posters size is PowerPoint widescreen (16:9)  Download the Widescreen Template  
    • Please save your ePoster as a PDF
    • Rapid Fire Poster must contain a presentation title
    • Please save your Poster as your FullName_Abstract-ID_Presentation type (e.g. GailSmith_34_RapidFire.pdf) 
    • Upload the recording of your Rapid Fire Presentation (by Friday 23 July 2021) - detail of how to upload will be in the Abstract Portal and emailed to all accepted Rapid Fire Abstract presenters

    Most Innovative Rapid Fire Oral Presentation
    Rapid Fire Presentations recordings will be scheduled together during the Live Conference and following the viewing of these a live poll will be conducted to vote on the most innovative presentation.

    Rapid Fire Oral Presentation Tips 
    Please ensure that your Rapid Fire Presentation is well rehearsed. The time allotted for your presentation is 120 seconds (2 minutes).

    Rapid Fire Virtual Presentations
    Rapid Fire Presentations will be available on demand on the Virtual Conference Portal one week prior to the Conference. The recording of the Rapid Fire Presentations will be used during the live Conference.

    We recommend that presenters make one of the first discussion forum comments (presenter contact information), so that audience members can contact you for more information / to collaborate (if you're open to such contacts). Alternatively (or in addition to this), you can keep an eye on your discussion forum for your session/s. 

    Recording & Submitting 

    Pre-recorded Oral Abstract Presentations, ePoster Presentations and Rapid Fire Oral Presentations must be submitted by Friday 23 July 2021

    Recording Presentation
    Using a video conference tool is an easy way to record yourself and your screen at the same time.  If you do not have a preferred platform we suggest you try one of the following.

    • Zoom*
    • Teams
    • Google Meet*
    • Cisco WebEx*

    *Free version provides recording functionality but may have limitations.  Search each platform for capabilities and restrictions.

    Submitting Your Recording

    • Please submit your presentation in MP4 or .mov format
    • Please save your recording as FullName_Abstract-ID_Presentation type (e.g. GailSmith_34_RapidFire.mp4)
    • Email your presentation via wetransfer (if the file is larger than 2MB) to events@cre8itevents.com.au or upload to our conference dropbox - the link for dropbox will be provided in your abstract acceptance email

    Terms & Conditions / Permissions

    It is a condition of your Abstract Submission that at least one (1) author must register and pay to attend and present the Abstract at the Conference.  If there is more than one presenter, all presenters must be registered and pay to attend the Conference.

    All successful Abstracts will be published on the Conference Website, App and Virtual Portal.

    Abstracts must be approved by your Organisation for publication and must not breach copyright.

    Abstract presenters must provide a pre-recorded video of their presentation by the due date. 

    Abstract Presentation recordings will be available on the Virtual Conference Portal prior to the conference and for a period of one (1) year available on demand.  

    A recording of your presentation maybe  offered for sale for ongoing Professional Development of Children and Young People’s Nurses.
